Finding love. It is something that many people want to achieve in their lives, but it is easier said than done.
However, do not lose hope. At some point in our lives, about 90% of us will end up married at one point or another.
With that in mind, this does not mean that dating trends will stay the same. This could change as you get older and the years go by.
So, what do you need to be aware of? What do you need to prepare for?
This is your guide for dating and relationship trends.
Younger People Date Online
Over the last two decades, the internet has had a stronger presence. When it comes to dating, it certainly represents the younger demographic.
People that are under 50 are at least twice as likely to use a dating app as someone that is over 50. If you compare a grandparent and their grandchild, the grandchild would be more than three times as likely to use a dating app.
What this means is that younger people are willing to give online dating a try. For some, this works, with about one out of every six people under 50 ending up in a committed relationship with someone they met online.
However, as you can see, one in six isn’t a favorable success rate. On the male side, more than half of the guys surveyed revealed that they did not feel like they received enough messages on these apps. That for the most part, the women are flaky, not to mention they do not look and represent their true authentic self.
As for women, 30% of them felt like they are bombarded by messages. Almost half of the women surveyed said they had someone continue to contact them even after telling them they were not interested and that for the most part, they were far from who they represented themselves to be online. Not to mention the many explicit messages women receive on dating apps.
In other words, younger people are open to using online resources to meet people for dating, however, it does come with its own set of cons.
Boomers and Divorce
As for the older crowd, boomers are more likely to be divorced than any other age group. About 43% have been through a divorce compared to just 33% of millennials and Gen X people. Adults over 75 are less likely to get divorced with only 24% ending up single again.
So, what does this mean for boomers that are dating? It means that they are likely going to be meeting someone that has been through a divorce as well.
Both of you may have gone through ugly divorces. Or, even if it was amicable, you could both be trying to juggle dating and trying to maintain a good relationship with your family that were separated because of your divorce.
In other words, you may have your own set of hurdles to jump through.
